Fruit juices do contain a small amount of vitamins and nutrients that are not found in soda. However, a 12 oz can of soda and a 12 oz cup of 100% fruit juice each contains about 160 calories and 40 gm (10 teaspoons) of sugar. Even though the sugar in fruit juice is naturally occurring, too much sugar can lead to weight gain and related health problems such as diabetes. A healthier option would be to drink water, or if you prefer the “fizz”, carbonated water with a splash of fruit juice or a few fruit slices.
